Today contact lenses are available in a wide variety of options to fit your busy lifestyle. Contacts come in different material types, replacement schedules, and wear schedules.
Materials:
There are soft contact lenses, Rigid Gas Perms (RGP), & hard contact lenses.
Replacement Schedules:
Conventional: Soft/RGP-last about a year
Frequent or planned replacement: last one to three months
Disposable contacts: last form one day to two weeks
Wear Schedule:
Daily Wear (the ones you take out at night) vs. Extended Wear
We actively promote daily wear over extended wear as it promotes better ocular health. Daily wear contacts are worn during waking hours and removed at night. Extended wear are worn without being removed for up to one month. Both types of lenses are discarded or must be carefully cleaned and disinfected before they are worn again.
Many people who do not need correction but who want a change in appearance try color contact lenses. These are also available for most people with correction.
For those who have become presbyopic, or need reading glasses, and want to wear contacts, you have options! There are bifocal contacts available in both soft/disposable and rigid gas permeable materials. Another option is to try monovision. This is when you wear one contact lens with one power to correct distance vision and the other contact lens with one power to correct near vision. The distance vision is usually worn in your dominant eye.
We try to keep our contact lens prices competitive and often offer rebates on larger orders. Make sure you ask if a rebate or special incentive is available on the contacts that you order.
